The MWA JPEG Component Library is now distributed as a single executable installation package, containing the installation files for Delphi 6, 7, 2005, 2006 and 2007, and C++Builder 5, 6, 2006 and 2007. Version 1.8 is still available as separate zips for older versions of Delphi and C++Builder. See note below for use under Windows Vista, and for use with Quick Reports.
Downloads
The installation script is written for Windows Installer and will
automatically detect the version(s) of Delphi and C++Builder
installed and install the correct files. It will also automatically
register the JPEG components with the IDE and provide links from the
Start Menu to the Example Programs and the Help Files.
Please note that this is the evaluation version and will only run when the IDE is also running. You need to purchase a source code licence to have full use of the software.
Installation under Windows Vista
The JPEG Component Library may be used with Delphi 2007 or C++Builder 2007 under Windows Vista. However, you should note that the "db" example using a Paradox table, which in turns uses the BDE. Unfortunately, as described in the CodeGear Release Notes, the BDE is not, by default, correctly configured for Windows Vista and, until it is, this example will not run.
To correct the problem, you must run the BDE Administrator from the Windows Control Panel, and, from the Configuration tab, select "Drivers->Native->Paradox". The "NET DIR" path must then be set to any folder to which you have write access other than the root folder (the default).
Quick Reports
Quick Reports from Qsoft, was bundled with Delphi/C++Builder
until Delphi 7/C++Builder 6. However, post Delphi 2005 it is only available
separately. The MWA JPEG Component Library contains a data aware component to
include JPEG images on reports generated using Quick Reports. This is installed
by default for Delphi 7/C++Builder 6 and earlier. For later releases, the
installation script will automatically determine if Quick Reports 4 is
installed and if it is, the installed design time package will include support
for Quick Reports. Otherwise, the version without Quick Reports support will be
installed.
Old Versions
Separate packages are available for Delphi and C++Builder versions. Remember to download the correct version. Delphi and C++Builder 3 and later also assume that you also have Quick Reports which is typically not included in the standard Delphi/C++Builder standard version. Standard version users must either download and install Quick Reports from Qusoft.
See note below on running the evaluation version.
*Please note that the Delphi 4 package has been compiled with Delphi Service Pack 3 and Quick Reports version 3.0.4. You may need to install both of these upgrades (available for no charge from Borland and Qusoft) for the JPEG software to work satisfactorily.
Registered users for previous versions qualify for a free upgrade from MWA Software - on request.
Users of Delphi Personal Edition will need to download Quick Reports separately from Qusoft in order to use our JPEG components as Quick Reports is not included with the Delphi Personal Edition
It has been reported that the evaluation version fails to detect Delphi or C++Builder if the Object Inspector has been docked with another window (e.g. the Project Manager). This results in a "failure to detect Delphi or C++Builder" error message when you run the example applications. This problem can be avoided by undocking the Object Inspector while you are evaluating the software. This problem does not affect the registered user version.
